James Wood
In the summer of 2022 James was celebrated for his 30 years of service with Tuolumne Park and Recreation District. He started in 1992 as a part time employee while running a cabinet business. James began working full time a few short years later and has since become the Districts' General Manager, all the while maintaining his cabinet shop. James' woodworking skills have been a great benefit to Tuolumne. Many of the enhancements seeen at the TPRD office, the baseball fields, the park trails and around town in general are a showcase of his skills. Quite often signs and displays used for TPRD events are made in James' shop. James takes a very special pride in our town, parks and especially our baseball fields. As a result of that pride, Tuolumne has the nicest baseball fields in all of the county! His green thumb is apparent as the parks and garden landscaping are kept beautiful. James, along with his team of awesome staff, have a vision to continue making Tuolumne a wonderful place for families to enjoy. Not just inside the parks, but in all the events they offer.
A few things we staff love about James:
James is extremely humble and caring. He excudes a compassionate leadrship style with a focus on collaboration so that everyone feels they are part of the team. Under the management of James, everyone gets the opportunity to be involved in the direction of the parks and the events held within it. James trusts the team to do their work while always making himself available to lend support when needed. James gives us the context and resources we need to succeed so that we feel empowered to make decisions about how to get our work done.
